TVF pitchers is a web series about some guys trying to start up their business.
“When
Indian graduates get frustrated with their 9 to 5 jobs, they think of only
three possible ways to get out of the rat race- MBA, IAS, or Start-up”… that is
what Naveen, our desi Steve Jobs is told by his soon going to be former boss
whom he is handing his resignation.
Welcome
to the world of Pitchers, an original web series by The Viral Fever (TVF). It
is the brainchild of Arunabh Kumar, the founder and Creative Experiment Officer
of The Viral Fever Media Labswho also plays the role of rude and abusive Yogi.
The
start-up is Naveen’s (CEO) dream, played effortlessly by Naveen Kasturia. They only
haveJitu, (Jitendra Kumar) in their mind as the technical in charge of team who
is a little sceptical because he has to balance his wedding life on one hand
while trying to convince a strict and orthodox father on the other.
The
team becomes complete when Mandal, played by AbhayMahajan, (the surprise
package of series) convinces the other members of his worth, although Yogi
still doubts his capability calling him a zero, but he acts as the glue holding
the team together.
Through
the five episodes of the web series, the viewers are taken on an emotional
roller coaster as the entrepreneurs struggleto make their dream a reality while
making some tough sacrifices in their personal lives. This gives it a touch of
reality allowing numerous other entrepreneurs in the making something they can
relate to.
The
USP of this web series apart from BiswapatiSarkar’s meticulous writing and
AmitGolani’s excellent direction is the cameos done by character actors like
GopalDutt (Rastogiji) and Rajesh Sharma (Gary), for which NidhiBisht, the
casting director deserves full credit.
My
only complaint is that during the entire journey, never even once do we get to
know what their remarkable start-up idea is or what is it named? Although
Arunabh claims that the plot of Pitchers was conceptualised much before the HBO
series Silicon Valley premiered but some comparisons would be inevitable as
those who have watched it might know.
Nevertheless,
Pitchers has fulfilled the long-time craving of millions of Indians leaving the
audience feeling intelligent and wanting for more. This is why probably it is
the only Indian entry in IMDB’s Top 250 TV List with a score of 9.0.
This is an acclaimed series and you can catch it up at youtube or at the site of the viral fever.
